hello all, hope everyone is feeling OK. just a quick question. i have been to see consultant today about my asthma and he said i have mild c.o.p.d and then discharged me as i am on enough medication. i am totally confused now, why has he discharged me after telling me i had a mild form of copd. i am baffled and confused. thanks for anybody who can help me xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

think it means you have a little bit of damadge but not cause for concern and carryon with
your meds and should be fine.

so does this mean asthma can develop into copd later in life? that's a little surprising that the consultant didnt go into it too much.
Hi Jilly Willy I was going to say the same thing as Glynis so wont repeat what Glynis already said. Other than if you have any concerns you could always ring the asthma nurses here and they might be able to give you more information.
As for asthma developing into COPD later in life sadly yes it can. Both my mother and father-in-law got diagnosed with COPD last year and my GP is starting to look into getting me checked over for COPD because the brittle asthma is not getting better and even on a good day I am taking my blue inhaler once and at present I can't even walk about my own home. To day I was put on 24 hours rest and relaxation to see if that helps any but I already know I will be back at the doctors on Friday. I have also been put on my third course of 40mg preds this year. You will all know when my peak-flow is back and stayin gover 400 for 4 days as I can't wait to hit that goal
To be honest sometimes bed rest and doing nothing can be so good for the body though...did that all bank holiday weekend...lovely!
