Hi All, I am due to see my consult on Mon and my gp had me a BNP test that came back rather high <200. After 6 weeks I am still on the neb 4 times daily and feel that this measure is screwed. I am been referred eventually for an echogram to see if heart is faulty. Anyone out there with a similar problem?

Hi Peter,
Sorry - what does it stand for, if not that party? Is it asthma or heart related?
I'm seeing a cardiologist soon in case there are issues there, think there are a couple of others on here who've been referred for heart things as well. Crossed fingers it's ok and hope you get some answers from consultant!
Hi Philomela, BNP stands for B-type Natriuretic Peptide (BNP) which is a type of blood test you have to see the condition of your heart. I had the blood test last week and my GP said that due to the results they would be sending me for a heart scan and that I was to inform my respiratory consultant of the results and the impending test. This is all I know other than what I have found out via the net.
This is all due to the fact that I am still breathless after my last asthma incident 6 weeks ago and been on the nebs since then
