Wheezing

I feel like this is a really stupid question but how do you know when you are wheezing, does the sound come when you breathe out or in? does the sound come when you just breathe through your mouth, nose or both?

I have never wheezed in my life till recently and i not sure if i am wheezing or not.

What is a wheeze?

hi plumie

Wheezing is a whisling (?sp sorry) noise when you breath. Its usually when you exhale and is for me worse if i mouth breath but is stil heard if i nose breath. I dont wheeze for long when its just asthma before my chest becomes silent i only tend to wheeze when i have an infection that aggravates the old lungs! If its related un infection my wheeze tends to be a very slight inspiratory wheeze with a prolonged whisle on the expiration! Hope that is a little clearer plumie. Hope your feeling ok take care Lv kat Xxxx
