Whoop whoop!

My lovely GP is referring me to the specialist team at Southampton hospital as I am getting absolutely nowhere with my local team and I'm not happy with the poor control I have.

So........anyone else had experience of Southampton? Any tips on what to expect?

hugs to all from a very happy

Feejay :)

So pleased for you Feejay! Here's to good GPs, hope Southampton can get you sorted out.

Yey!

You must be glad to be getting that sorted out. Don't have any experience with specialist teams/centres as only just been to local respiratory cons for the first time but have pm you some people who have and may help more.

Great news feejay. Hope they get ur lungs sorted out quick for u .....

The Southampton team are very good and look at all the possible options and diagnosis. First visit is going over various lung function tests, blood tests, allergy tests, background information and inhaler technique. This is to get a baseline and supplement information already sent by GP/Consultant. Then you see the consultant. If needed you may also be referred to other specialists. You might be asked to go on one of the asthma trials being carried out at Southampton.

Thank you all :) and also thank you to everyone who has pm'd me. What a very knowledgeable bunch you all are!

I was under southampton when I live down there. they are a fantastic team although some people dont get on with them as they strip everything back and look at the causes of your asthma etc. You have a barage of tests for lung function allergies and get you to see a physio to check breathing pattern and muscle use. They also like people to see a psychologist to disscuss impact of asthma and how stress can effect difficutl asthma.

It is a bit over whelming when I first went with so much stuff to do and questionnaires but the team are fantastic. Hope you get on well with them.

Hi

Im currently under Southampton & they really are a great team. Can be a little slow but that depends on your consultant ;0)
