My best score is 550 but haven't seen that for a while!
Not sure there really is a 'u shud b' norm
but u can get a chart online that gives an average guide, based on height and age.
410 is supposed to be but i had been getting 500 till i had a major dip now about 390
Your peak flow all dapends on your sex, age, height and technique. This should be put in your plan when diagnosed so you have something to go against. It should also be revieved annually as we dont always get whats predicted. My predicted is 500 but i havent got above 200 for three years, because im brittle and unstable. A and E departments make a fuss but im lucky that its in my notes that doing peak flows actually makes me worse as makes me cough alot!!and arent of much importance when so bad.
I've done about 450 before, normally average around 380 - 400 when feeling good, currently around 300 max and has been for a while now.
510 after approx 2/3 weeks of prednisolone. I normally blow around 350-400 (I'm 23 + 5'1 1/2"" )
This is a useful web address relating to peak flow readings
According to the EU scale mine should be 409. I supose I am pretty good as my ""norm"" is 350 - I am yet to beat 380.
hi all
my predicted is 470, on a good day i get between 380 and 430, average 350,
i have a piko 1 which i find quite helpfull as i was often finding my PEFR ok but felt tight and couldn't understand it , now if i feel tight with normal ish PEFR my FEV1 tends to be low, i find this reassuring as i was beginning to wonder if i was imagining how tight i was.

you need to go what is 'normal' for you not anyone else. i usually start to pay attention to it if it dips below 20% of my average.
My predicted is around 470 but I frequently get around 540 - 550, my best is 570 and that's on the old scale not the new EU but my peak flow doesn't really change when i have problems, it may dip to around 480 if i've got a cold or virus, so have to go on how i'm feeling.

When I was 16 my best peak flow was 570 but now at 32 my best is 300, though most of the time I run at about 200. This morning it was 90, which isn't too great, but I'm only a week out of hospital so things are still failry unstable.
Hi my best at mo is about 420 but am hovering around 370-380 at mo tho when I have eitgher been gym or played clarinet or had a hard day it tends to dip to around 350 even with ventolin. Guess I will give up.
My beat at moment is 250 pre which then goes up to 300 which is way below what it was a year ago today 250 at least not as low as it was 2 weeks ago at 160
my expected is supposed to be 465l/min but ive never got upto my personal best of 370 l/min, (must have been a very good day that day), nowadays it usually stays quite low at 330-250, but during attacks it can go straight down to 190-220.

I Should be around 640.

Range varies with age and height also whether male or female
peak flow
been informed that my best peak flow should be around 450...normal average i can reach is around 330-350..when im having a bad day its usually between 250-300..was admitted to hospital 2 years ago and my peak flow was hardly registering!!that was scary..
peakflow
my peakflows usualy around 250 but have just had a scarey 3 weeks with abad chest infection and a reading dropping to130 Iam 55 and overweigt and am determined to take control of this andto loose weigt and increase my lung function as my confidence has had a bad knock. any advice would be welcome
My best is 440 but coasting around 370 at the moment unless I take masses of ventolin. But then ventolin is the order of the day at the moment and they still don't seem to be much better.
my best was 510 but at the moment its about 320.the lowest its ever been is 150 and that was the lowest it will ever go, i hope.
'Whats your peak flow?'
My highest is around the 450 range but not very often its more like 350 380 but im not aloud to let it go under 320 like it is at the moment before i start taking action in the form of pred which i hate

Peak flows are very personalised, they take basic measurements like hight and weight but a lot goes on your technique and control, not everyone is the same and thats why your limits should be set by a qualified practitioner and set just for you. It will also change as you do because it also goes on your best in the last 12mths more than your predicted, so people need to concentarte more on their own than others
I did a peak flow with a tight chest and unable to breathe normally I had breathlessness and cough and could not walk far. Also the doctor never told me how to use the thing, I just took it in my hand and blew in it, not particularly hard and certainly didn't take a deep intake of breath before breathing out. It was like I was blowing up a balloon!
Unsurprisingly I measured 130! He let me do it a 2nd time and again, very low reading.
I wish he'd explained to me exactly how to use it. I am 100% sure I would have registered far more had I known to first breathe in deeply, and then forcefully breathe out into the cylinder.
