swine flu for my 5 year old son
my nephew whos 4 had his last week. he was ok had a bit of temp and complained of a bad back but nowt else he was back at skool day after. gud luck to your son xxxxx
My daughter whos 5 had it last week, she's got a heart condition. She's had temp and headache not said about anything else.
My daughter, aged 13months had it last week and was totally fine afterwards. I feel reassured that she will have some immunity to the virus now. Good luck.
Our severly asthmatic son had it in late October. 5 days later he tested positive for Swine Flu!
It is worth remembering that it takes 15 days for the vaccination to be fully effective.
The good news though is that the 5 days of anti-bodies he had already developed helped him to fight off the Swine Flu in just 48 hours. We also had antibiotics on stand-by at home and started him on them within an hour of developing a high temperature. His asthma was actually better then when he has a normal cold.
After months of worrying and precautions it seems a bit ironic that he caught it anyway after being vaccinated, but we are so grateful that it was very mild.
The question though now is does he still need the 2nd jab (as he only received the half dose first time round)? We are receiving different opinions on that one. And are holding off for the moment until we receive a reply from his consultant.
