pred how long to make a difference?
not sure the correct answer, as I'm new to this, and only had 1 dose so far, but for me I actually got worse for a couple of days, then slowly recovered. nothing life threatening as I was about middle of my yellow zone.
Keep an eye on things though, how close are you to your red zone, are the symptoms getting seriously bad, if yes then A&E.
I saw my GP today, who put me on a 7 day course of prednisolone. She told me it's often 48 hours until you notice it working.
Prednisolone
It should work in between 24 and 48 hours if the dose is right. However I usually need antibiotics as well.
Good Luck
hi
For my son I see a marked improvement within 24 hours usually but a major improvement after 2 to 3 days
My sons had several pred doses since september and is nowunder assesment for his asthma right now, he has had it since a baby and he is now 11.
I find that it works better with antibiotics, I take him to the doc when he is bad and they prescribe preds and I say that antibiotics work better with it, they dont always give antibiots and then I say, well I will be back in 2 days with him and sure enough I am, they then give antibiotics.
Some docs dont like keep prescribing antibiots, understandable..
So I find preds work but better with antibiots.

This is different to what everyone else has said, but I thought it was between 4 and 6 hours. My peak flow will start dropping the day after I stop taking it, and slowly tail down, so I guess it wears off over a few days.
Can anyone tell me if I'm right with the 4 - 6 hrs thing?
If pred isn't working a doctor certainly needs to be seen.

Never thought it was that quick, its usually a few days for it to take effect. I have never had any benefit from it in a few hours...
Take care x
