Hehe looks beautiful anywhere near he sea ?x

That would be the best asthma retreat ever - could you IMAGINE how much fun we would all have?!!

:D I'll take the Gatehouse please :D The property has got 3 swimming pools - what are you supposed to do with 3 swimming pools???!!!

yaf_user681_32991

heh nope. it's closer to london than the beach. but it's set in lovely grounds, has 5 swimming pools as well as ponds, tennis court, gym, bowling alley....!!! it would be a bloody nightmare to keep tidy i think!

Geina x

Hehe Feejay, Kick Asthma holidays for adults? Bring it on - I'm going to sneak on that even with my fake asthma! Shotgun one of the swimming pools ;)

Geina, reckon if you can afford to buy that you can afford to pay people to keep it tidy!

Not sure a gym/bowling alley is much use for an asthma retreat though - can we have a spa instead?

Yeah, I can just see us all playing tennis and swimming....is there a surgery as well??

yaf_user681_32991 profile image
yaf_user681_32991

maybe we should try for a day meet up first LOL somewhere fairly central!

that's one pool for me (i'm having the infinity one on the roof LOL)

one for the kids- i'll employ a swimming teacher/lifeguard

one for DH to lounge around in

and two for guests!

Ahhh Well if it's not to far from london good transport links Three swimmings pools is a little extreme tho I'd be more than happy ! I would volunteer to be your cleaner bit prob not a good idea hahahaha although with your winnings I'm sure you could afford a cleaner hahaha o dear I'm in a funny mood tonight !! X

Angievere, depressing thought re the surgery but yes - any annoying non-listening types strictly forbidden!

You got ahead of me but think we should have a spa instead of the sports facilities. Also a TV room and a library.

yaf_user681_32991 profile image
yaf_user681_32991

it mentions schools, golf and polo in the descritpin LOL

well as long as we're dreaming we'll have a team of drs hand picked by us! sure there'll be room for them. plus the physio and personal trainer LOL.

i'm getting silly. must be tired!

G x

Maybe we'll keep the sporting facilities for the medics then? We can lounge around on the sidelines and make annoying comments like 'ooh, that was close' and 'maybe next time you'll get it over the net'. Or watch them on the treadmill and 'encourage' them.

I'm being silly as well but it feels much better than being frustrated like I was earlier - silliness is a good cure.

yaf_user681_32991

i'm sure spa, TV and Library can be arranged! theres a pool/billiars room that can also be equipped with wii etc LOL.

and for those of us iwth school aged kids, well there can be school room and tutoring arranged.

more than welcome tinx

i'll find somethign else for tomrrow night. maybe we can work out a plan to improve my 7yo's handwriting ability LOL

Lil_tinx66 profile image
Lil_tinx66

:) oooo I'm excited but handwriting paper was how we where taught we where made to sit for hour untill it was perfect I had one teacher at school who was insistent on a finger space between each word only problem was she has fingers the size of a bar of chocolate so of course havin tiny fingers aged about eight I always failed her test and was made to re write everything until it was perfectly spaced no wonder I learnt nothing that year ! X

Made mine too - was really frustrated and feeling rubbish earlier so thanks! Evening entertainment threads definitely a good idea.

Geina, don't know if you'll have any luck with that - mine was bad at 7 and it still is! Have had people tell me I should be a doctor because it's so bad lol - now there's an approach to choosing a career.

On the other hand I can't say it's held me back much having awful handwriting - and you should have seen my tutor's! I'm not even convinced he was writing in English - he knew loads of ancient and modern languages and I'm beginning to suspect he was writing on my essays in ancient Assyrian or something. I have no idea how he ever passed any exams with writing like that so if he can do it...

EDIT - lil tinx, glad I didn't have your teacher, what a waste of time. I used to have teachers who got on my case about my handwriting but I just ignored them when I could.

yaf_user681_32991 profile image
yaf_user681_32991

heh. ok then we'll work on getting my lil' square peg to fit into the schools round holes! she is... unique!

of course i may be able to find us an even more fantastic retreat somewhere by the sea!

good point tinx! all those geniuses (genii?) that you can barely read their notes. and didn't someone write everying backwards? (i can do that with ease LOL)

Lil_tinx66 profile image
Lil_tinx66

Geina allow her to be a square peg ina round hole unique is lovely

Oooo seaside retreat i dont no what it is about me and the see i life on a river estury aprox 30mins from a beach ive been once in nearly twenty years hahahha xx

Edit - autocorrect changes me words now all changed back

Ooh, by the sea would be good. Anywhere not cold&dry or hot&steamy.

Speaking of steamy things, can we handpick these doctors to be not only really good but also devastatingly good-looking? Especially if we're going to watch them play sport lol

Geina, don't try too hard to squash her in the round holes - though she may have to pretend sometimes. I did lots of pretending and hoop-jumping - very boring a lot of the time but it got me the results while never really conforming. She might turn out a better problem-solver and even do better on standard tests if she approaches things her own way and works out her own solutions, even if they seem crazy (have just been reading about some research into this).

EDIT : lil tinx that explains my tutor then lol! He used to talk to his wife on the phone in about 3 different languages.

how can you live so near the beach and not go! i have a choice of.. a manky duck pond or the river thames! would love some beach. roll on holiday time! must book that!

yaf_user681_32991 profile image
yaf_user681_32991

do like your thinking philomela! i think that can be managed.

i don't want to squash her into the round holes. i like her unique. her teacher last year called her quirky. she is. but this year she's been squashed :( she needs some time to de school this summer. and a pencil will not be anywhere in site unless she wants it.

I live in Essex my nearest beach is Southend on sea google it then u will prob no why I dont go ! I'm in a much nicer area famous for it's salt and oysters x

yaf_user681_32991 profile image
yaf_user681_32991

she keeps telling me she's bored. i got told she shouldn't do any more work in other languages till she can write. pity i'm going to ignore that. she enjoys learning other languages and has a talent for it at the moment. which as she ges older she will lose.

Until she can handwrite neatly? This sounds so very familiar - think you're absolutely right to ignore that - though hopefully she'll still be good at languages even past the 'critical period' when she's really good at absorbing things. She sounds like me at that age, being 'quirky' and squashed by teachers who didn't like me (awful one when I was 5). And not surprised she's bored if they keep her on one thing like handwriting and don't let her do anything else.

yaf_user681_32991 profile image
yaf_user681_32991

ok i'll forgive you for not going there! southend is NOT one of the places on my attempt to visit for the beach list LOL!

thinking i might attempt to take the 3 kids on the trian to brighton one day this summer...

Thanks I'll stop here in maldon ! Ooo the day I went to Brighton I poured with rain all day and we couldn't find a car park with a high enough height restriction for a average 4x4 haha looked lovely tho stayed not far from there last year ! Hope the visit Goes smoothly And it stays dry for you !! X

yaf_user681_32991 profile image
yaf_user681_32991

the crazy thing is her teachers are quite fond of her! or my baking... never quite sure which! she might prefer to write stuff in spansih/french/welsh anyway LOL. i know she wants to do more BSL if i can find a tutor for the summer, she did it before she went to school. she's forgotten a lot but it'll come back fast as she was fantastic at it and it's still at the back of her mind.

imagine how DH felt trying to park the coach! the ticket machine was £10 for the day but ONLY accepted £1 coins! of course we could stay in feltham. and jsut go to sunningdale to the park for the sandpit. no water to tempt my three water babies in.

That house is unreal! Oops, it's been for sale since 2005 and was built with a curious finance deal from a irish bank now under state ownership.

yaf_user681_32991

i know LOL DH passes it regularly when he's at work! It's secluded.

Seeing as they have halved the price maybe ought to get them to build another one with the £35 million in spare change... will do for the in-laws...

Well, with some of that we can buy a fleet of golf carts for the retreat so we can all get around the grounds without having to walk too far...

I could be resident very nice, very approachable and friendly teacher...part time obviously!

yaf_user681_32991 profile image
yaf_user681_32991

I'll take you up on that one Honey. There won't be any need for such long school days with so many less kids!

Don't get me started though LOL.

Geina x

Not having such long school days is fine but I could be the othe rhalf, perfect teaching team me thinks!!!! Although I think for both of us you might want to bring in tennis coach for PE or something!!! not sure we could reliably deliver the '2 quality hours a week'. Mind you I haven't even seen this house as when I followed the link it took me to the home page of the site and you have to know the postal area or something?!!!

yaf_user681_32991 profile image
yaf_user681_32991

I'll do trampolining, I'm sure I can find a swim coach and they can muddle through at tennis. wait. they're KIDS. tehy'll be fine given the opportunity to actually do something.

My two barely get 1hr PE now.

Oh, it's a mansion in Surrey that was built years ago. Cost a fortune and never managed to be sold LOL.

The children can use the sports facilities when the (McSteamyesque) medics are busy. We can still lounge around watching and make annoying comments, but it's less fun with children.

I'll volunteer for some music teaching. I'd offer editing services, but not sure that's going to be required unless loads of people suddenly decide they fancy writing a book.

yaf_user681_32991 profile image
yaf_user681_32991

between us all the kids will get a rounded education and we could even take up new hobbies LOL.

hey, i've always wanted to write a book. i'm just not that clever so don't get past the fisrt line!

Could someone invent something like a punchbag that you can use when you don't have the breath or energy for a real punchbag? We can have those in strategic places.

May I apply for the post of Granny to all? Firm but fair. Happy to have any number of kids help get dinner ready. Grown ups to do the washing up. Only fair.

PS for the would be writers amongst us. Before you slope off to faraway attics or quiet summerhouse in the shrubbery, may I suggest a quick look at - nanowrimo.org/eng/whatisnano

I think we can run to some dishwashers with the spare cash...
