you may remember i wrote a few months ago with regards to my son getting hives out in the cold.
he has seen his allergist consultant and it looks like he is suffering forn cold urticaria. basically he is showing sign of being allergic to the cold.(i know it sounds mad)
his consultant expressed how rare this condition is and now we are taking precautions to keeping him warm.
i just thought i would update you as you never know who needs the same advice.
thanks again

Thanks for the update. Though the condition may be rare, there may be others on here that are affected to some degree. Good when you can put a name to something.
Best wishes

Hi my daughter has this trouble, she also gets it if she goes out when it is to warm or if she gets to hot in pe. It is happening a little less as she is getting older but she is also getting better at knowing when she needs to be careful or take piriton to help calm it down. She also had trouble with the paddling pool in the summer as the sudden change in temperature made her come up with hives. hope your little one is ok.
R thanks for your rely, he is well at the minute although consultant is removing his adenoids in may, apparently this can help to control viral infections.
I'm just having probs with his school, they say they can't accomodate him needing to stay indoors in the cold so I feel a bit in limbo.
Can't believe that in this day and age schools can't meet childrens needs
jakey's mum - whilst i recognise that asthma doesnt make your little one ""Special Needs"", but does his school have a SEN unit or teacher, maybe they could help the way forward or in supervising your little one during breaktimes? or a classroom assistant could be available to look after him?
he cant be the only one for whom outside play (particularly when the weather is cold) is not appropriate!
please dont remain in limbo, chat with the school (maybe face to face) and maybe ask the consultant to write a letter of recommendation that Jake stays indoors when the weather is less than X degrees celcius.
i'd stay in with him if i had a job at his school, i can just imagine he's a dream to be with
