Hi Does anyone know if Flixotide would clear up green mucus from my child's nose? She has had this mucus for months and months and the doctor said Flixotide would help. I'm just confused as I thought it would be if she had bad asthma but she only has asthama when she is really poorly.
AsthmaUK nurses (number top left of website page) would be able to help i am sure, but from wot i know, flixotide is inhaled directly into the lungs so i am not sure as to how it would help with green nasal mucus?
unless its a viral respiratory infection, thats worsening her asthma symptoms.
flixotide is preventer inhaler so works by helping to keep alveoli and airways open and relaxed, lessening the inflammating and therefore hopefully easing your daughter's breathing. hopefully then the amount of blue inhaler - reliever - you need to give will reduce.
hope this helps?

Are you confusing Flixotide (preventative inhaler) with Flixonase?
The latter is available OTC as a nose spray (and also on prescription, I presume) and as nasules, which are plastic ampoules of much stronger steroid liquid that you drip/drop into your nose.
I believe the active ingredient is the same/similar as the inhaler, but obviously it's formulated for the nose.
i been thinking the same as you amz. thats why i provided info on the flixotide inh ....
i am assuming it would be the flixonase spray that would have been given OTC or prescribed, one would hope as yes that is a nasal spray???
that treats hayfever/ rhinitis and should help clear mucus etc but like every medication does not always work with everyone -trial and error,
Good luck, hope it does work for you. i use flixonase spray, which was prescribed, and find it to be effective
