I recently went through a nonverbal or dysverbal episode, nonspeaking episode? recently. I found it painful to speak even a word for a period of three hours the other day. It's happened to me before, but I'm not used to it, and this was the first time I looked into what was happening. I was wondering if other people could describe their experience with these episodes so I felt a little less alone about it.

Dysverbal episode
I've been lost for words a lot, or sometimes decide now is not the time to speak, at times I say my speech is not good, as I feel stressed for whatever reason. It's only for short times, sorry you went through this.
If that should happen again.......... think of a song....... and sing it out loud......... Pick a good one, if you're inclined to dance......... get up and dance.....

I haven't experienced that. I do clam up in company, especially with people I'm not comfortable with, and when I lived alone and had a van I could go for two or three days without speaking at all, but it hasn't been painful speaking and I can't really imagine it, though I'm aware that some ASD people are non-verbal so it doesn't especially surprise me.
