Hand joint replacement

Hello, does anyone have any experience with having had a joint replacement in their hand?

My sister has started on a short steroid course. How did you get on with the operation/s, would you recommend it, what would you advise her overall? She is a lifetime sewing expert and loves gardening.

When the pain was excruciating I was begging my OH to get the axe, chop off my fingers and then take me to A&E. The joint replacements have definitely helped with the pain. However, despite intensive physio the new joints do not bend that well and I cannot make a fist with either hand. From a pain management view I would recommend the operations. There are lots of things I can no longer do due to dexterity problems and poor grip. I have also had some finger joint fusions. Hope your sis gets on ok
