Hi everyone, I know it’s probably not the right place but at the moment with everything going on I’m just scared to call the doctors. So my story. As a child I was diagnosed with arthritis but can remember which form now. Back the had severe pain in my wrist so much that I literally couldn’t hold even empty cup. After a while it got better and I only had the occasional day or two with pain in my wrists for years until now. I broke my ankle 2 years ago and to this day it still hurts a lot, so much that I resorted to wearing ankle support but that’s not the only issue. My lower back hurts so much and nothing brings relief, not even sitting or standing or laying down. My hips, my knees and even my other ankle hurts. I’m not sure if all this pain is due to arthritis or could be something else? Any suggestions on how to relieve it would be greatly appreciated too.

Hi
My advice would be to contact your GP today and ask for a telephone appointment to explain exactly what you have posted. Its the first step to gaining support, assessment and pain relief management. Meanwhile you should take over the counter pain relief.
If you can participate in online basic daily exercises that are gentle that will help too also walk daily for your hour.
Your GP is available although you may not want to attend the surgery. I email mine and have had very good support.
Long term I feel you will be referred on but firstly take first steps to help feeling you are doing what you should be.
Best wishes.
It is quite possible that you are not digesting your food properly, and so have developed an intolerance for some foods. Also you may be eating some things containing additives which are not doing you any good. Try removing as many processed foods from your diet as possible, especially anything containing a sugar substitute such as aspartame, or an additive such as monosodium glutamate.
If this seems difficult, start by finding healthy snacks eg fruit, and then look at what you eat for breakfast, then lunch and dinner, so you gradually go over to a better eating style. A good rule of thumb is 'not to eat anything containing more than five ingredients' unless you have made it yourself.
Patrick Holford has written a lot of books on self-help through diet and supplements including one on digestion and one on arthritis. These may be available through your local library, and are well worth reading.
This approach should help, but definitely follow the advice from 1961jh as well!
Hi Nrni , sorry to hear that you're struggling with these pains at the moment.
Current NHS advise is that it is still important that you contact a healthcare professional if you are worried about anything. You can also ring NHS 111 to ask for advise before speaking to your GP. Our website also features a COVID-19 page with guidance and advice that may help you manage your arthritis symptoms during these times.

In terms of helping to relieve the pain, we also have information on pain management and wellbeing that may help you deal with your pain during this flare up. We definitely still advise talking to a healthcare professional about your pain, however these pages may help while you wait to be seen.
