Colds, viruses and flu

Since coming of my medication in October I have been nothing but sick. Today I have gone down with another virus. I know I have a toddler running around but has anyone else experienced this, I used to have a fairly good immune system x

I’m really suffering too. Saw GP last week and she thinks I might have caught the flu, but in the last couple of days I think I’ve caught a cold. My husband and son have not been 100% and a lot of people I’ve contacted have been unwell with a virus. It’s that time of year, but this year seems to be particularly bad!!! I can’t take much to ease my symptoms because I’m pregnant, and have had to take time off work. I plan to go back tomorrow, even though I feel terrible and think it could be contagious. I had the flu vaccine and taking pregnancy vitamins daily, but still really ill!

It’s been nearly three weeks and still feeling rubbish. GP thinks I’ve caught one virus after another, also UTI and now eustachian tube dysfunction (severe ear ache really disturbed my sleep last night). It’s really bringing me down. Good news is I went back to work two days ago, but not sure how useful I am right now 🙁 I’m not feeling confident or resilient, ready to burst into tears. Always feel highly sensitive and emotional when I’ve not slept well. My husband has gone abroad on business too, really bad timing. I’ve asked him to not go abroad again, until I get better, because it’s too much being ill and pregnant, and looking after a four year old before and after work.

Hi jessi

Oh goodness it sounds like you have so much to cope with , being pregnant (which can make you feel rubbish anyway!) as well as all this physical illness you’ve had, working and looking after your child.

I really hope that you start to physically feel better. There’s two natural things I do which seems to keep physical illness at bay for me: kefir (probiotic yoghurt drink) which I find great for stomach and yeast infection type things, and echinacea tablets when I get the first sign of cold and it amazingly seems to keep the cold away. I don’t know though if echinacea is ok to take in pregnancy though. Different things work for different people though I know.

I hope you feel better soon, and are able to get enough sleep too

Ellie

Are you feeling a bit better, Theo116?

When a lot of stress and becoming emotionally poorly, my physical health can be affected.

However, nowadays I usually get run down physically when both my men have a cold or are contagious otherwise, as they are mingling much more with others than I do. Children are anyway little bug monsters :-)

Look after yourself x

Hi I think we are all on the mend thank you. We have missed some nursery sessions so hopefully we will not catch anymore bugs. We are on half term here now. We managed to get out for some fresh air in the weekend.

Hope everyone is well x
