I feel that I don’t have enough love in relationship is it because people who suffer from depression and anxiety see and think differently?

I can relate to this, I thought it was just me! Anxiety and depression are so mentally exhausting that I sometimes think I'm not capable of fully loving someone. I'm not sure if that's because of how 'differently' I think and feel things due to anxiety or just how I am in general though. My therapist told me to think of anxiety as a separate entity to yourself and your personality. I hope you feel better soon x

eternalsunsh1ne, thanks for sharing with me I do think it’s related to the anxiety and depression

There is no space for feeling love when you have anxiety, which, stripped down, is the feeling of fear. Anxiety’s sole function is designed to protect you in times of danger ( or perceived danger) so nice emotions like love aren’t needed when your mind and body is preparing you to fight, flee or freeze. I can’t imagine many people stopping to hug a tiger when it is about to maul them 🤣 so, it’s no wonder anxiety suffers don’t feel love towards family, friends etc and completely normal under the circumstances. Once you recover, those feelings will return.

I understand the confusion you describe about your situation. It’s hard to separate during episodes. I totally agree with @Beevee. Makes total sense to me, I hope it does to you as well. I wish you the best.
