how to be less sad?

For sure depends on the severity. Start out small with tiny things that bring you comfort like hugging a stuffed animal or petting a pet then move into some kinda hobby that makes you happy like exercising or doing art. A movie is also a good distraction

Typically I try to listen to some music or talk to a friend. Usually they help. If not, then I just try to wait it out with a brain numb-er like a tv show or food I really like. If it's not going away though, I would also recommend a hobby. Maybe a goal to achieve. Exercise can also really help to alleviate some stress or sorrow if you can get yourself to do it. HIH

I struggle with this too. I try to remember the positives in my life, the very simple concrete things I have(family, love) and remember that not everyone has that and in that respect I am lucky. But that doesn’t always make me not sad. Often it stops me from crying and when I stop crying I watch a silly tv show. Something easy something a little older so there’s no mention of current triggers. I just finished Community (the show) maybe not your cup of tea but it has six seasons and is silly and is pre US riots and pre pandemic.

Stay strong. I wish you well

Every situation differs, but it is important to realize the little things in life that you look forward to every day or that make you happy. For me, it is creating art or watching new episodes of Jeopardy. Even though it's little, I hope you too can find things that distract you from the sadness you may feel.
