Do you know the difference? They are similar, both falling under the label of anti-social personality disorder (according to the DSM-5). While it is believed that the sociopath is a victim of their environment, e.g. negative household, abuse or other traumas, a psychopath is born with a genetic predisposition. In general a psychopath is more dangerous than a sociopath, more conniving and cunning. Though that is not to say that a sociopath cannot adapt these methods to achieve a goal. A sociopath may feel remorse, guilt, blame, etc., but a psychopath will not. Thus the danger. A sociopath may stab you and say I'm sorry. A psychopath will not. Comfortable now?

Psychopath or sociopath?
I've never known a sociopath to be able to feel empathy, guilt, or remorse for anyone but themselves. They serve themselves and only themselves. If they seem to be doing something nice for someone it's for their own end game. They want to be adored and have attention, they really don't like to be alone, and they are close to some narcissistic traits as well....but feel nothing for the people they rope into their webs of deceit. They cannot stand to lose and will never stop trying to win. A psychopath I believe is capable of murder to achieve all these same goals.
From my personal perspective and from what I've researched there are similarities between the two. It appears to me that your description matches the psychopath moreso than the sociopath. We are capable of empathy and guilt. A degree of narcissism I agree, use and manipulate, yep. One popular thought holds that psychopaths are born that way; sociopaths are made that way. True, a psychopath is more of a danger and will feel nothing. As for me I care not to participate so as not to lose or win. Will not do anything to win.
