Hi could antbody please tell me what the effects alcohol has when taking Simthrome, does it make your INR levels go up or down ???????? Thanks Julia x

Sinthrone is an anticoagulant and alcohol will generally raise your INR level. It is OK to drink but keep to the recommended levels, and it is better to have small regular amounts than nothing all week and then quite a lot at the weekend.

Alcohol can also have the reverse effect and reduce your INR but that is generally only when people are consuming extremely large amounts, alcoholics have this problem.
