I had AF for nine months followed by electro cardioversion which worked well and has lasted for over a year now. I was prescribed Dabigatran and Flecainade. I am concerned that should I get an internal bleed there is at present no antidote for Dabigatran. I am 75 years old. Any advice would be appreciated.

although there is no antidote I understand that the new oral anticoagulants are only in your body for about 7 to 12 hours. If you were taking warfarin and had to have vitamin K to reduce your INR level it is not instant and could take hours to do it, so not much difference really. also if you read what the tests say there are fewer major bleeds with the new orals.
If you look on the Atrial Fibrillation Association site they have lots of informationabout AF and the various anticoagulents
