. I have dvt after broken ankle in popliteal vein behind the knee. Will I need thigh compression stocking or below knee and should I wear on
You should have been advised by the hospital what additional care you need to take. I would discuss this with your GP and if necessary ask for a referral back to the hospital. Compression stocking is a very specialist field and you could discuss your concerns with Sigvaris who really knows about this condition and will answer your question. Call them on 01264 326666 and please mention Anticoagulation Europe (ACE).
I had a DVT behind my knee in my popliteal vein. I had to wear below the knee stockings on both legs for 6 months. Your hospital should have advised you when you were there. I would contact your GP or hospital for advise asap. Do not buy stockings at a chemist, you will need to be fitted for the stockings. Incorrect fitting stockings can do more harm than good. Are you in plaster, this may be the reason you haven't the need for stockings. Hope you get this resolved soon.
Hi, I have a DVT in the calf after fractured ankle. I couldnt have stockings immediately due to the ankle injury. However, following removal of my bandages the DVT clinic fitted temporary stockings for me as the district nurse referral for some could take weeks. I would ring and ask if they could do this. I only have to wear them on the one leg but they advised it will not do any harm to wear on both, if preferred. Hope you get sorted out soon.
Hi . I wear support class 2 open toe below knee most days on my one leg that had DVT, unless traveling, dress up occasion, then wear full thigh highs on both legs. My legs no longer swell now that I religiously wear support hose . you have to get measured and wear correct size . knee highs should never be tight under knee .
