Hello, I had multiple blood clots in both lungs, pneumonia and also found multiple nodules both lungs sized 5mm and 6mm. This was August 23. I was on apixaban which they stopped on 12th. On 14th I started my period but haven't stopped. It keeps going to black blood then back to red .My hands are cold and sweaty. Anybody know if I should be concerned?? Thanks

On the face of it, I am staggered that they took you off Apixaban.

When the doctors took me off Warfarin six months after a near-fatal saddle PE, it was less than six months later that I presented with a further DVT.

The outcome of that was Warfarin for life, now replaced with Apixaban, but no question of ever stopping it.

But while the doctors do not always know best, they do know more about you than we do, so you need to consult your GP and seek the rationale for stopping your Apixaban.

They can also reassure you, perhaps, about your menstrual blood - black blood is normally just blood retained for longer than normal in the uterus, that has oxidised - but perhaps ensure there is not a more serious issue underlying it.
