I am new here, but I'm on the Lung community and Breast cancer. I have just had a PE, still in hospital. I have a dangerous tumour on my right lung, I do not have a left lung. I need an operation very soon and have just heard how long it can take to recover from a PE. It seems I am almost a dead person. Has anyone recovered quickly from a PE? Any positive thoughts please? Thank you for your response, Bev xxx ๐Ÿ’โค๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ

Physically I was better in a few days after I had started treatment but psychologically a good few weeks until I felt myself again.

Hi catgirl,

Thank you for responding. I am out of hospital so 2 weeks of bedrest took it's toll, but after 3 days home I'm cleaning up, washing and hair๐Ÿ˜‰so physically a bit tired but mentally unhappy with blood thinners. Awful things!๐Ÿ˜’

Have a good weekend catgirl, love Bev xxx โค๐ŸŒน

You will recover when you are good and ready for it!

What I meant was that everyone is different and recovers at their own pace when they are ready for it.

It takes a little while to recover, but we are all different. Hang in there and take it one day at a time!

Sorry to hear about yr situation, and yes, everyone is different.I had serious life/death,multiple p-e's many years ago,and I'm still suffering the damage caused. What I will say is that you need bucket loads of patience, some do cope better than others,

All I can really say is. my best wishes in your fight,

I still get a bit breathless but apart from that Iโ€™m ok, take care.

Itโ€™s always overwhelming and youโ€™re not alone. There is a good deal of information on Thrombosis uk Website.

As everyone has said, everyone is an individual so take it at your own pace. What I would say though, is that breathlessness is not due to being unfit, you hsve a clot blocking the oxygenation of the blood so do NOT push yourself as all you are doing is demanding that your heart works harder to get the blood round and oxygenated which is a wee bit hard for the heart at times.

Take everyday at a time, some will be great, others a backward step, but keep smiling whatever.

Good. Luck.

I remember when I first started having symptoms I had thought that I was unfit and needed to go on a diet but it was nice to know no I wasn't unfit and that I was ill.

Hi Suebo,

Thank you so much for your message. It was great! Now I understand why I am fit one day and the next I wonder if I should get up at all๐Ÿ˜‰It was like that, one day great the other๐Ÿฅฑ๐ŸฅฑI am breathless anyway but 95% blood gas. But I understand now that I need to take it easy with my heart. I did push it. I smile a lot thanks!

I hope you gave a great afternoon, thanks once again ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ๐ŸŽˆ๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿค—๐ŸŒน
