Hi - I’ve been looking at some research highlighting how those people who have residual thromboses or scarring from their original dvt are at a higher risk of getting a dvt again. I’m in that group and am not taking any anti coagulation- consultants said three months was all that was needed two years ago. Any thoughts?

Hi I am in the same boat. Had a 7cm dvt in my arm and it has left scarring of the vein and a 50% narrowing of the vein. Consultant said I should stay on low dose anti coagulants for life basically.
He has offered me a first rib resection though as mine is paget schroetters related so hopefully after that surgery I'm at less risk of reclotting and can hopefully come off the anticoagulants.
Sorry nothing positive to offer - I have residual and they won't let me come off sintrom (equivalent to warfarin) ... the only good news here is that I've had no recurring symptoms to suggest another ... hey ho keep taking the tablets!
