COAGUCHECK TEST STRIPS

I am one of those guys that MO it or at home with my own Coaguchek from Roche, I have noticed a big jump in the test strip cost, here in Canada. I test every two weeks usual, and have remained stable and in range since testing myself. My question is are there anywhere, I can get a better price e on test strips.

John.

Assuming Roche have a division in Canada, have you considered buying direct from them, or at least do a price check with them.

I have, I get a better deal through the U.S. But shipping can be expensive. On eBay. And right now our dollar is 35%. Roche are trying to get our government to put them on our health plan, but an upward fight, one of our province's Quebec covers them. The cost to our system for blood tests, to say nothing of wear and tear, to people getting stuck with a needle, which is a big risk if infection for many who's system's are compromised.

Consider testing monthy, that will cut your costs in half straight away.I was going to buy the coag m/c,but the cost alone[uk] and then the strips put me off.

I suppose it's a peace of mind thing with most people.

When I first had my inr testing 7 yrs ago after multiple pe's,I couldn't wait to go for my next to make sure I was in range,[panicing]

Seven years on and I'm far more relaxed about it now, plus my local surgery is only a couple of minutes walk away.

The only reason I have an inr done weekly is if it has gone way over or under my target of 2-3...which it doesn't very often, otherwise I have the inr test done every 4/6 weeks

Yes, in New Zealand, following my PE, I hhave monthly INR checks ( grateful to be able to have these done free and by a finger prick test at my local pharmacy...my veins in arm were shattering after so many done at Med lab ) at which time the machine calibrates an instant reading and my correct warfarin dosage.

I have that issue with my veins but I have got a coagucheck machine that I can do testing at home but I cannot get my strips on pescription so I have to pay for the strips but they are still so expensive even In the uk and with being on unversial credit and disability benefits it is just so expensive and I just cannot afford them

Hi, I get mine on prescription, I get free prescriptions because of my medical ailments. I had to write to the local ccg to get them to agree to it though . Hope this helps .

In Spain they use the finger prick machine but only the hospital can confirm dosage so have to wait for emails back and forth (no big deal for me as there's a cafe next to the Centro de Salud). When INR stable it's every 4 -5 weeks.
