Taking Warfarin

I have been taking warfarin since the second of August this year and after about 6 weeks I noticed that my hair was coming out whenever I combed it, in fact it has got so bad that I have had to invest in a hair piece. I was wondering if anyone else has had the same experience and if they have managed to find out how to stop the hair loss.

I am so sorry to hear your hair is coming out so quickly' I have been taking Warfarin for 15 years and the first year I took it my hair got noticably thinner. I asked my GP is I could have a different blood thinner. He said that alternatives were expensive and as I was 65 years old

he would not change it!! He would consider a different drug if I was a younger woman. However after about a year my hair stopped getting thinner and 15 years later I still have a decent head of hair

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to my question, maybe there is hope for me too. I believe I am only going to be taking Warfarin for a few more months, I did tell my GP but he said he could not alter the medication as it was prescribed by the hospital. Anyway here's hoping. I started taking warfarin when I was 26 I am now 69,after 43 years my hair seem to be thinning on top,well that's life,ps and I seem to have black coming through

Been on warfarin 20 years and my hair falls out terribly but I still have a decent amount of hair I am 36....... so its common (I think)
