I had a dvt I was on celexane and warfarin from the start. My inr went in range within a few days so stopped celexane. How ever I also got a infection from where they scanned my leg and damaged the vein so I was on double does of antibiotics. My leg was very swollen and painful for about 6weeks . I was sent back to hospital a second time as the antibiotics were not working the consultant just said as long as my inr is in range keep taking warfarin and painkillers' I was also put back on celexane which seemed to have a instant effect again . I was injecting for a further 5 days . My leg is still slighty swollen but the pain has gone I am having weekly inr to control wafarin levels . It has been 3 months half of which is pain free. I believe the clot is still there but slowly being broken down. I made sure I had regular inr to keep my blood in range . It's a scary time which I never thought would stop but it was almost instant after 6weeks. I hope you are not having to many side effects and the pain ease's. Soon.

It may be that this medicine does not agree with you OR it may be just a question of lowering the dosage. I am 76 years old and on Atrixoban. I was on 5mg twice a day and I felt at night as though I was going to pass out. However, after reducing my dose (with my GP) to one 5mg tablet in the morning and half a tablet, 2.5mg, at night I find that I am perfectly alright. I always take the tablets with food. I hope this may be helpful. I have atrial fibrillation and no history of blood problems so it may be that our conditions are dissimilar.

Hi thank you. I'm on 20mgs a day and got to stay on that dose for now cos only been on them a month. Been to my gp this morning and she said I just have to put up with the side effects til they kick in. I'm only 52 and having no energy and being tired all the time is a known side effect. Waiting for apt to see my rheumatologist soon. Got another sick note for another month. Wish this dvt and clots would just go away.

I've now had three blood clots I was on warfarin for the previous clots I was fine but now I'm on rivoxaban due to my inr not stabilising as I developed post thrombotic syndrome possibly due to not getting compression stockings straight away I've wanted 4 months for them so I've been in agony.

I've been fine on rivoxaban had no problems at all.

Hope you get sorted soon

Tracey

Hi I've got 3 as well. 1on back of my knee and 2 on my lungs. I've started to feel better at last. It's took 6 weeks though. I think the doctors stopping my Hrt suddenly didn't help..... my body didn't know what was happening! Fingers crossed. Thank you for your advice

Sorry to hear your feeling rotten. Yep took me roughly 6 weeks to get used to riveroxoban. Sure I felt lethargic. Sick and really dizzy. Was panicky because so many people told me it wasn't regulated. But been on it about a year now I think. Good thing no check up every week. But see your doctor that's best to put mind at rest x

I was on rivaroxaban for over 2 months but felt very unwell on it and returned to warfarin. So it may be that this drug does not agree with you, but you probably need to give it a bit longer than 4 weeks to get used to it. Maybe dose reduction would help, but this needs to be discussed with your doctor.

There are so many of us on here. That someone can always put your mind at rest. I'm pleased your feeling better. Take the rest while you can. I went back to work a month after leaving hospital after second stroke. Was back at work 2 weeks after first stroke. Only thing I can advise. Get all the rest and recuperate lots of fresh air. Sound like my mum! But truly worked for me. Mince and tatties. Big chicken dinners. I lost so much weight changing to riveroxoban. Look like a walking skeleton. Not pretty!! But please take my advice worked for me. X

I work on a busy children's ward so I have a very physical and mental job. I've had one month off and just got another sick note for a month. I will see how I am then. I make sure I go out for a walk everyday with my dogs. I also give myself tasks everyday to complete. It's so nice to talk to someone who knows how I feel. I have a very supportive family and friends but cos my illness isn't visible it's hard to get my head round. Also my gp said that I need to stop being impatient cos it's only a month since I started on rivaroxaban. Thank you for your advice... I will listen to you!

What do you mean when you say you're still not better? Exactly what isn't better? And what are your side effects? Rivaroxaban is a fairly new drug and does not have any long term studies done on it. The other problem with it is there is no antidote for it like there is with warfarin and you don't test your levels on it to see if your blood is as 'thin' as it should be. I was offered to switch from warfarin to this because I have to take it for the rest of my life since I had 2 pulmonary embolisms but I decided to stick with the warfarin despite the monthly finger pricks.

Just sharing some info on this drug but would like to know the 2 questions above.

It's a scary thing to have a blood clot! Hang in there and consider Warfarin.

Hi there. I've just come across this website and specifically this topic. In October 2015 I was diagnosed with a massive DVT (40 centimetres long) from my thigh into my abdomen (femoral vein into iliac vein) and lots of PEs in both lungs.

I was put on a 48 hour thrombolytic drip to try to "bust" the clot but it only managed to get rid of the 'newer' part of the clot so my femoral vein is still blocked.

I'm on Rivaroxaban, 20 mg once a day and I have had some horrible symptoms including fatigue, muscle and joint pains and weakness, however, unfortunately, I was also found to be vitamin D deficient which can also cause similar symptoms, so until the vit D problem is alleviated my GP says that is the cause of my symptoms and we'll have to wait and see if the Rivaroxaban is an issue.

What symptoms has anyone else had with Rivaroxaban?

Thanks.

Cliff.

I am bugging the nurse's I am sure# I hate this. I have low Iron

And I am anemic so I started taking an Iron supplement as well
