Has anyone had trouble with threadveins (on face) while taking warfarin? I have read vitamin k deficiency can contribute to this.

Hi,
I too have threadveins. They have developed on legs, this has been since taking warfarin. I sort having injections and lasers to get rid of them but they would not touch me when I said I was taking warfarin.
Would be interested if you find I treatment that can be used while taking Warfarin to get rid of them.

Thanks Becky, I will let you know. I'm convinced the veins are from taking warfarin as I have other prominent veins on my body. I've looked on the Internet and can't find any evidence of this though the use of a vitamin k cream is meant to help veins. As warfarin reduces vitamin k, it does make me wonder if there is a link. I would like to have them lasered, is it expensive. I'm sure I could reduce or stop my dose (as you would for an operation) to have it done. Thankyou.
Yes I too think it is because of the effect of the warfarin on vitamin K production. I have used vitamin K cream in the past even through it said on packet not to use if taking anticoagulants, I did find that it did help to reduce appearance of them, it did not seem to effect my inr level. I have found being on Warfarin I real pain at times as everything seems to interact with it, especially when you want to use something for your benefit.
Keep me posted.

Becky
