I recently had one placed in October. For me it has been life-changing. I would recommend anyone dealing with bad spasticity to at least see if their neuro would set them up with a test for it. It involves a spinal tap, but it’s not bad. I walked wobbly after, but did have the strength still in my legs to go ahead with placement. If you have any questions feel free to ask here or DM.
My legs are weak, stiff and inflexible, and I have sexual dysfunction. I'm hesitant to test the baclofen pump. I don't know if it will help me.
It would not hurt to at least see if they will test you for it. It is just a lumbar puncture and a dose of baclofen put into the spine. If it doesn’t work, it will be worn off during the day and back to “normal”. But if it does work for you, then you can schedule the surgery. It won’t help with the sexual dysfunction, but to have the spasticity relief is amazing for me. I am still doing physical therapy to help restrengthen my legs also. I won’t lie, the one downside is the fatigue in my legs tends to hit sooner. But the trade off for spasticity pretty well gone and that is worth it.
Ok, thank you. I'll test it sometime.
