Dear All, I would love to learn about holistic treatments for cancer. Not instead of chemotherapy and radiotherapy but in addition to the two therapies... any knowledge much appreciated

This might sound odd but I've heard of acupuncture being effective

I do accupuncture and it has really helped with the pain but has not done much for the fatigue.

I do a lot of herbs - I'd check with an herbalist or naturopath who understands your disease and understands integrative medicine (combining natural and conventional) for guidance on what to take, dosage, and to be sure products are well tested and it's ok with what what other herbs or pharmaceuticals you are on.

For cancer, reishi mushroom is almost always good as it's an anti-inflammatory. The same is true of curcumin, also an anti-inflammatory as well as having other benefits. Vitamin D3 is extremely important to to everyone, especially cancer survivors. Vitamins in the B complex for survivors. CoQ10 to protect the heart from effects of chemo. But if you are on chemo or other drugs or herbs, again, you should check with an integrative or holistic practitioner to make sure of no drug interactions.

Yes, acupuncture has helped many cancer survivors and others with pain, nausea and there is some research showing it can raise platelets (which can drop from chemo). Here's an article I did on acupuncture for pain.1uponcancer.com/2011/09/24/.... Check the homepage for other info on holistic treatments: 1UpOnCancer.com. Wishing all who come here well.
