This is harder than I thought it would be.

I live with my boyfriend and his Mom, who has Alzheimer's. I stay home with her while he works. We are trying to get her into assisted living, memory care, but it's a slow process. Since I'm with her all the time, I see things my boyfriend doesn't and if she gets mad, I'm the one she gets mad at and raises her fist at. Is there anything we can do to speed up the process of getting into assisted living?

You are on the right track toward the best living arrangement for the three of you. You and your boyfriend deserve to live your own life and his mother will need more and more care. Have you looked into several different assisted living places? There are also places with health and rehabilitation in the name that are essentially nursing homes. My late husband was in one of those. A local hospital may be able to give you a referral. Let your boyfriend know that his mother should be placed before her behavior escalated to striking you.

Not what you're looking for?
