Hi, I'm Marie, I'm 60 and I've just joined the group because I have problems with short term memory. I've been referred to the memory clinic and the consultant says I have frontal lobe brain shrinkage and some minor changes that are inconclusive. He is referring me to a psychologist and I have to go back to see the consultant in 6 months. I'm not at all sure what the psychologist is for though!
I think my problems are a!! down to M.E./fibromyalgia brain fog, but the neuro hasn't ruled out some kind of dementia. Who knows? It's all very confusing.
I do hope you're all feeling good and enjoying some autumn sunshine. Take care.
I'm new aswell, I'm 46 and have been struggling with memory for a while. Very confused mostdays.ive seen a psychologist who ran some tests on memory and such not ruled out some kind of dementia either, seeing her again on Thursday for further tests hopefully get some kind of diagnosis. .
Welcome to the community. The referral you mention is most likely to a neuropsychologist, who is a specialist in providing cognitive assessments. They will typically use standard cognitive tests that can be compared against a large number age-matched results. Feel free to share your experience once you have met with this specialist.
