They’re listed as inactive ingredients and I just don’t want to take the chance! But I feel so sick! I’m trying to refrain from the hospital.. whenever I go I get looked at crazy for saying I’m allergic to peg/Pg. There needs to be more awareness on them
Does anyone have medicines they can sa... - Allergic to Glycols
Does anyone have medicines they can safely use when sick? I have a cough, sore throat, and headache but a lot of medicines have PG/PEG in it
BC Powders can help with headache. No PG/PEG. Someone in this group posted recipes to make your own cough drops in the future (had a disaster reaction with Ricola cough drops earlier this year, will never try to OTC cough drop again). I swear by (good quality) elderberry syrup and extra vitamin C - absolutely speeds up recovery time. Hang in there!
When I got desperate, I started looking at the children's medicines. I found a brand called "Hyland's" at Dollar General. They have a daytime and a nighttime formula. It is for congestion, runny nose, sore throat, sneezing, and coughing. Of course, since it's for children, you will have to take more. One bottle doesn't last long at all! I also use the BC Powders for headaches as well. They are awesome!
I use powders to get away from the glycol binders. BC powders sinus pain & congestion formula has inactive ingredients of only magnesium stearate, maltodextrin, and silica.
Look into the brand Genexa. You can find it at Walmart or target. Clean ingredients.
Check liquide medication. I use dayquil. Some don't contain peg. Good luck! It's a nightmare looking for medication.
I use Standard Process supplements which can be bought on-line. Congaplex, combined with Cataplex C, is extremely helpful for congestion. Increasing your vit D intake is also important.
I use BC or Goody's powders. No glycols there. Some of the antihistamine varieties and such you may have to order online. Last I checked Vicks VapoRub was also safe.
I make a syrup from onions and honey. Helps take congestion, sore throat and swollen gum pain away. Has a lot of vitamin C. Also check out onion poultice applied to your feet and relieves chest congestion.
When I am sick I use a few things to stay away from glycols. 1) I put a pair of socks on my feet at bedtime and then place slice onions on my feet with another set of socks on top. Onions are really good to pull toxins out of the body. However I have also used potatoes instead of onions when my feet are being sensitive and they work as well. And I have found in a heating pot or infusion of oils, a steamer i use eucalyptus, it works wonders when I catch the flu and soon I am all better.
