I just had my first ablation (PFA) 2 days ago. I have a lot of nausea and chest discomfort. Is this normal? Is it from the general anesthesia or the ablation? If you have experienced this, how long did it last?

Post Ablation

Nausea will probably be the anaesthesia if you had a general?
Mild chest discomfort is usual, I had some achey pain in my upper back for few days but easily eased with a couple of paracetamol. Sharp pain should always be investigated as should symptoms such as breathlessness at rest.
Don’t rush your recovery, plenty of rest and patience, recovery is often longer than you are led to believe and very individual.
Did you read the Information Leaflet - Recovering from Ablation? Written by patients, it explains what you may expect such as aura migraines?
Wishing you speedy recovery and long lasting NSR.
Had one in December... On discharge said yes I might get chest pain, so advised to take Paracetamol for 5 days as a precaution. The nausea is from GA... You will be fine.. Take care and best wishes.

Thank you for your post, it is still very very early days following the procedure. Please take advice from your consultant and listen to your body. There is a 'blanking period' following an ablation whereby you may experience some shortlived sides effects such as ectopic beats, AF episodes, eyesight disturbances and headaches - which are quite normal. However, if you are concerned please contact your Consultant.
I have attached a copy of our 'Recovering from an Ablation' that will also provide an overview of common symptoms to expect: api.heartrhythmalliance.org...
If you are feeling up to it, please feel free to contact one of the Patient Services Team, we are here to help either via our patient helpline or by email: heartrhythmalliance.org/afa...
Until then, take care.

Chest discomfort -- I had tremendous feeling of pressure and pain two days after an ablation and called the office where I learned that was not uncommon and given a Rx.
definitely normal. Your heart has gone through this procedure, and it takes time to heal. It will!
