Medication change

I was in very good health when I suffered a stroke in August 2024.

I had a thrombectomy and havrecovered well from stroke. I had AF and severe left ventricular issues. I have been diagnosed withheart failure and have been medicated since September. I've had echocardiogram and cardiac MRI's and currently waiting on an Angiogram. I take regular exercise and generally feel well. However my heart rate is too high and I e been advised to double dosage of my beta blocker med. Anyone have experience of this med change

Hi

BBs did not reduce my rapid heart in AF persistent. Metopolol 186 avg couldn't exert and 2 sec pauses at night on my mormal 47avg bom Night.. At Stroke =Embolic (Left Frontal lobe) diagnosed, rapid and persistent AF and Thyroid Papillary Cancer. Bisoprolol and up and up went my dose to 10mg - 156 avg but no breathless and pauses at night.

Research repeats Metopolol is not for aFers.

Both CCBs and BBs sould be trialled. I would never had had all the heart damage I have seen on ECHO report.

Have at least 24hr heart monitors which are the truth about your meds.

I had 3 before and 2 weeks after starting a new med.
