Sudden change to SVT's Advice please

I had an ablation back in 2022. It was successful for a long while but I do get AF episodes every couple of months. I take a PIP if my heart rate gets high as if I take bisopropal my heart rate drops too low.I lost my son in May last year at 36 years old due to atherosclerosis, so I did expect episodes due to the stress.

I have not felt well the last 3 or 4 weeks after a cold virus. I went to the doctors last Friday after my blood pressure was down to 95/55. The BP had gone up at the appointment but a urine test showed a infection. I was given antibiotics. All I was told was if the BP gets too low go to A&E

The same day, before I took any antibiotics I was feeling very sick & ended up being sick for 2 days, which I put down to the norovirus.

Since then I have felt very poorly, tired & feeling nauseous.

I am now getting strong palpatations, which are showing as simus, with superventricular ectopics. This has been going on for a couple of days now & not stopping. Does this just sound normal due to the infection in yiur experience? Just to put my mind at rest.

I thank you for any comments that may help. I am a regular on the forum & although I don't post much, I read the posts everyday as they are so helpful to me

Many thanks

Sheena

Any inflamation can set off arrhythmias and of course when you are sick you often forget the number one priority which is good hydration. You must make sure that you keep drinking water which will help with low BP as well . If you pop a bit of salt and sugar into it that will help too.

Infections can certainly have an effect on our heart rate. I think I'd let your GP know about your feeling nauseous and so tired. Because of you being sick after taking the antibiotics, they may not have been sufficient to clear your infection.Let us know how you get on please.

Hi Shiney. I had an ablation in July last year. All has been good but I am identical to you. I was going along ok. A few minor ectopics then I caught a cold two weeks ago. Since then every day every reading on my Kardia mobile normal sinus rhythm with sv ectopics. I think I have had only two saying normal sinus rhythm. It’s is driving me bonkers mentally but I have to keep telling myself they won’t harm me. It’s like I am constantly listening for the next heart thud. When I am busy shopping or chatting I don’t even notice them but focus when I’m alone with my thoughts. I am going to try meditation and hope that once the virus has gone completely things will settle down. Trust me you are not alone on this. Good luck. Stay focused as I am trying to do.
