so I’m nearly a week into taking my medication, 50mg flec twice a day bisoprolo 1.25 once day , I take it in the evening..
if you read my last post you know I’m a nervous Nellie !
My fist observation is that my HR is faster than usual. My resting before was about 64 now it’s about 76 .
I had an Afib episode on Saturday night , I usually sleep through them as my HR doesn’t go much above 105 , this time however it was pounding out my chest with an average of 128 . So after an hr of deep breathing and a need to sleep I took another bisoprolo and it helped also my Afib episode was much shorter which obviously I’m delighted with .
but since taking that extra bisoprolo I feel crap , stuffy headache and shattered.
am I still getting used to this medication? I’m guessing so and how long was it before you guys didn’t have side affects ?
Thank you so much for all your help .

Have you had a blood test since starting on Flec as that used to be what was recommended? It's possible for that drug to cause abnormal rhythms. Certainly report it to whoever prescribed it for you.
Who prescribed your meds? GPs can be ,rarely very good in terms of AF knowledge or or usually pretty vague and occasionally downright useless,in my experience and as a daughter and granddaughter of AF inheritance. Ideally, try to contact your original prescriber, consultant hopefully. If proves difficult, phone or his/hers secretary. Power behind the throne I've found.
It does take time to 'load' medication but worth checking out for peace of mind. ( from.a fellow worry wort.)
My GP is useless, not to interested at all in my Afib . My cardiologist prescribed the meds but I ended up in hospital on Monday night and they kept me in because my Afib was fast . Told not take any more flec and just to stick with beta blockers until I get another cardiologist appt . I’ve also had more episodes this week than ever before, I usually get 1 a week and I’ve had 3 so far !
Maybe the higher rate combined with the effects of flecainide caused the side effects you felt, as that is how I can feel after faster AF (in my case, without flecainide)? The problem with an extra bisoprolol is that it acts for around a day, so it could well have been that, as you say, although I don't get such an effect from it.
Flecainide is prescribed in the UK differently from in the US, for example. Over there, I believe, far more care is required both to initiate the Rx and following first use, when extra ECGs are taken in the early weeks of taking it. I would discuss this with your GP at least.
I take extra Nebivolol when an episode strikes though it does not seem to do anything either to shorten the attack or reduce my heartrate. But I am sure it adds to being wiped out the next day.
