Looking at the support sheet it says visual auras last a short time after an ablation due to the punctured septum. I had an ablation 3 months ago but ever since, maybe once every couple of days, I’ve been getting these twinkly patterns starting in the centre of my vision and gradually increasing outwards until they disappear over a quarter to half an hour. Not followed by a headache though, thank goodness.
Anybody else had this happen for as long? How long does it take for this puncture to heal up? (I had my first ablation 6 years ago & only had this happen maybe twice to three times.)🤔

I suffered from the migraine auras (with no head pain) about every other day for the first week after the ablation. The auras decreased in frequency and intensity but still occurred for the next 2 or 3 weeks. See your medical professional if you are concerned.
Occular migraines (sans headaches) are an occasional feature of AF. I get them a few times a year but have never had an ablation or cardioversion. Half an hour-ish sounds about normal. Hopefully your incidents will subside. I have never heard of any negative aspects to this phenomenon…🤡
Hi KenRC,My cardiologist warned me about possibility of increased migraines after my ablation last March explaining why this happens. He also said if they persisted it would be because the puncture hadn't healed but a further procedure could close that. Maybe this is the reason your auras are persisting. I too, would recommend you speak with your cardiologist.
Yep, had quite a lot particularly post Aortic Valve Replacement and again post Cardioversion. I wondered if a side effect of anaesthetic but then I also have experienced them occasionally through out my life. One of the surgical team at Papworth said it is quite common post OHS and I believe she said they don’t know why, but usually settle down.
