Hi …. I was at the gym using a new treadmill. The thing flew me off the back and l ended up injuring my hip. This happened a few months ago. What can we do for hip, lower back pain? I am on blood thinners and prefer something semi-natural. I am also taking sotalol for afib.

Hip pain
I have tracheal bursitis of the hip, and am awaiting a steroid injection.Being on anticoagulants stops us from using the best option,NSAIDs such as ibuprofen.
However we can use the gel version as it isn't going through the stomach, where the problems can arise.
I was told to follow am anti inflammatory diet which I think has helped.
I find warm water bathing helpful.
If I'm planning an outing involving lots more walking than usual,I put on a heat pad. You can buy them in pharmacies.
Also physio exercises have been given to me,if you Google ' exercises for hip pain, there are quite a few.
Best wishes for Christmas and the new year xx
Thank you! I exercise daily and this impedes my ability to enjoy my exercise sessions. I will try your suggestions.
I have just been diagnosed with the same condition and struggling with the pain from it which I can also feel in my groin and sometimes down my leg. I have been given diclofenac 1% topical cream. I am worse in the night and when lying down or sitting. I have been given exercises by a physio but wouldn't this make it worse? The physio told me it's either been caused by lying on sunbeds for 2 weeks in Cyprus or walking too much in flipflops. How do you cope and how long have you had it?
The exercises are meant to strengthen the muscles to stop it getting worse.I am down for a steroid injection ..see what that does.
I find heated wheat bags are brilliant
Try using a Tens device.
I use a magnesium rub.
I am in a similar position with hip bursitis and on the same drugs as you. Mine is worse when sitting and in the night. Been to doctors and physio had to resort to a low dose of anti inflammatory cream to be applied topically
Two friends have been told that only physio-guided exercise and time will, eventually, reduce hip pain. Continuous paracetamol has helped one of them, but used with caution as, I suspect, no drug can be entirely "safe".
Steve
Paracetamol is not safe at all. I was reading about a recent study that showed that frequent use at the maximum dose linked it to heart damage. I think use of painkillers of any sort is something to be avoided . Maybe because I was a dancer for so many years I just got used to skeletal pain . When I was in the clinic for my hip ops the nurses would bring round Paracetamol 4 x a day. I would only take the morning dose. They thought I was a weirdo. The physio had this odd theory ( from observation) that Brits did not feel as much pain as the French. I did not tell her about stoicism!
I have had hip pain (on the outside of the hip) on and off for many years. I haven't found anything which works yet. I am however going through physio guided exercises, e.g. side walking with a heavy band around my ankles, shoulder bridges with a band and raising one leg to the side with a band. I've also changed my mattress. I find voltarol or ibuprofen gel rubbed in on the outside of the hip works quite well as do paracetamol tablets - just 2 taken around 0400 if I'm having trouble sleeping.
Hopefully the exercises will eventually work.
