Warfarin.

Does any one have Coeliac and AF. I take Warfarin but wish I could take a different one . My doctor said because I have Coeliac I need to take Warfarin . This is because they said I might not absorb it properly .They can check my bloods to see if its working. with Warfarin I have to watch my diet so much. Then I have regular blood tests. I just wondered.

l have taken warfarin for 7 years because l can’t tolerate the new DOAC’s. I think other members have taken it for a lot longer. I eat everything in moderation and the warfarin dose is adjusted to that, not the other way round. The key is to keep to the same diet and eat the same foods to regulate your INR., and a small amount of vitamin K helps to stabalise your INR. In short, l don’t restrict any foods, l just be sensible. The blood test is only a finger test, the same as a glucose test, and takes about a minute every 6/8 weeks. Warfarin has been used for 50 yrs or more, and is very safe and the medical profession are very experienced in dealing with this anticoagulant. I have no doubts that, for me, l am on the best one. I am a coeliac and take Elequis. I take multiple other medications and none of my doctors have mentioned the coeliac disease being an issue. If you are on a strict gluten free diet I don’t see why it should be an issue.

hi I’m coeliac and on apixaban was on warfarin much prefer being on a DOAC no regular testing. Never been mentioned that I shouldn’t be on it by GP or pharmacist. On various other medications and also a diabetic type 2
