Warfarin my experience plus Atenolol given for Atrial Fibrilation and High blood pressure.

I have had Warfarin for 10 yeas and have had no problems. I do not have cranberries or a lot of dark greens. Alcohol is occasionally . Every three months I have my blood checked at a local chemist and that is by appointment. I am then home within 5 minutes. I do not want to change to one of the newer thinners because I like being checked up on every three months.

I had Atenolol also for about 9 years. No I’ll effects. Then my doctor abruptly stopped them. I had no after effects. He said they are being withdrawn.

Sorry, what is being withdrawn? Not warfarin I'm sure as I have been on this for fifteen years and will never stop it . Atenolol is , however, quite an old beta blocker.

i changed from Warfarin to Edoxiban but now I am back on warfarin at my own request because my legs felt so weak and now I am back to normal. Definitely think it was the edoxiban.

I like to do a lot of sports and my Doc recommended I stay with Wafarin because I can self test and get my INR closer to 2.0 before I ski, snow board etc. I am plant based and eat lots of greens so I neet to self test every 4-5 days to stay in the zone. I test the night before and if I am high (+2.4) I make a kale smoothie and I know it will drop down to where I need it by the next morning.

Warfarin caused my genitals to hemmorage. Nearly lost the "family jewels" so I will never take it again. Xarelto was better, but still had pretty severe cognitive decline and knee pain while on it for 10 months. Thankfully, both of those problems have definitely improved after stopping the drug.

Sorry to hear that. We all react differently to tablets. I know you must watch what you eat with Warfarin. Hopefully I will not suffer a bleed.
