Back in AF!

So, I had a very successful ablation Aug 1st last year & no issues since! & this year, I have just had a hip replacement! I was put on extremely strong Zapain to cope with the pain in my hip as it was bone on bone. After the first week I felt no pain after my hip replacement, so I stoped my Zapain & codeine the hospital had given me! It ended up with me being taken to Hospital as my body experienced withdrawal of strong pain relief and I collapsed with sickness & diarrhoea. I was severely dehydrated & my sodium’s levels had dropped. Since then, my AF has reared its ugly head. I have been referred back to cardiology who feel it may settle with the Bisoprolol they have given me, they can’t give me Apixaban due to me taking 2 aspirins a day for my hip. Thing is, my actual hip is amazing and I was really excited to walk lots and now this! No one advised me at the hospital to wean myself off these meds, why take pain relief with no pain?’! Anyway at the moment my HR is 110-130 resting. So my appointment can’t come soon enough! What awful bad luck! 3 weeks on, new hip & no pain, just AF! 😩

Oh poor you! Absolute nightmare - you get so used to having a regular pulse after a successful ablation & sort of take it for granted - hope you get it sorted!

I had an ablation in September last year, so sorry to hear your AFib has come back, it’s what I dread happening. Hope it’s a one off, but you might be offered another ablation if it keeps returning. Good luck.
