Swollen and red feet
Swollen feet and ankles can be a symptom of atrial fibrillation (AFib):
Fluid buildup
When the heart doesn't pump blood well, blood can pool in the veins of the legs, causing fluid to build up in the tissues. This can lead to swollen feet, ankles, and legs.
Have a chat with your GP.

It can also be because of certain medication's, such as calcium channel blockers, for example.

Could also be your kidneys or liver. A few things can present in this way.
I have the same problem. Diuretics (I've has all 3 classes )do nothing, I do not have HF, my kidney and liver function are within normal range. Verapamil was stopped. no change. The Cardio has decided that it is a vein problem. He's not very keen on feet and thinks there's not much to do - maybe compression socks. I'm not in pain, it's just my shoe selection is limited and I have to hide my feet. I'll see my GP for a routine visit in a couple of months - there has been a vague suggestion of a vascular surgeon ! we'll see!
If you are older ie. over pensionable age your Gp may refer you to gerentology .Our local dept is brilliant and has sorted out numerous problems but did come unstuck with venal insuffiency as the dept closed for a while when I was refered for ankle and foot problems rather as you describe yours.I cream my feet and ankles ... the cream relieves the soreness and reduces the swelling.... a couple of times a day with E45 and cocoa butter and this seems to help a lot.
Thanks, I'm 81 but I live in South Africa and I'm with private practitioners as most people are ( public health care is for those who cannot afford Medical Aid subscriptions). The way it works is that GPs usually have their rooms in medical centres and specialists rent suites in private hospitals of which there are more than there are public ones, and they are better equipped. The specialists who perform surgery are allocated theatre space witin the private hospital where they have their suites. There do not appear to be specialists who specialise in gereatrics, so regardless of your age you would see a Cardio. for hearts, and pulmonlogist for lungs, etc. The nearest thing we have, I think, is a specialist physician. I have no pain or soreness, just the swelling, discolouration, and flaking skin. I do rub Bio-oil gel on them and that helps with the flaking. I sit at the computer too much, but since it's a gravity problem walking around does not help - I'm not very good with sitting still with my feet up. I'll get some E45 and see if that helps at all! Thanks again.
Following a DVT in the leg 20 yrs ago, I still daily do 2 miles brisk walk (to get the leg valves/veins pumping the blood back and raising my feet whenever I sit and it is convenient. I also raise vertically one leg at a time in the bath 🤣. Result binned the compression stockings, no leg pains and no swelling.
My view is you really need to go and see a Dr
Your doctor is the only person you need to ask, she/he is the only one who can assess and help you. You should make a face to face appointment.
I have DCM and my feet go red and purple as soon as I stand as my heart doesn't pump strongly enough. I don't get swelling as like secondtry I walk as much as I can to get the leg muscles working and put my feet up when I can. I am on diuretics but a low dose.
By all means you should consult your GP. As a qualified Reflexologist of 25 years, I have helped with this problem, my specific foot treatment helped the circulation and I did get good results. However, I’m now retired, we have a ‘Revitive’ foot and shin tens machine that may well help, BUT as is said, speak to Gp to find the cause 🤞🏻
I had swollen legs 6 months ago to the point where pushing on the skin was very painful. I read that you have to exercise and massage the muscles to get the circulation to improve , especially the calf muscle. I started chair squats, heel raises, bike riding and upwards rolling pin massaging every day. My legs are now painless, normal sized and the hair has grown back. No diuretic meds were involved and I only wear compression ankle socks. I have also lost 30lb. All that I can say is that it worked for me and I am 71 years old. Good luck.
I would think that any swelling or redness on your feet should at least be investigated. Swelling can be caused by many things and only a professional would be able to diagnose or at least point you in the right direction but I would definitely get an appointment with your GP as a starting point. Hope you get it sorted xx
Could also by lipidema or lymphodema. See a doctor.
