Really worried about having this test don't like it when they put the contrast in to raise your heart rate. I am scared it will start the AF. Also worried about the radiation.

i had this a few months ago. Yes it’s horrible when heart rate goes up but it’s not for long and they are watching carefully. I was told it’s the gold standard for heart tests.

I would find out and satisfy yourself it is really essential and if so go ahead. I had one 10 yrs ago and no known side effects. Sorry can't remember why I had it and what the results brought to my AF treatment.

There’s no radiation in an MRI.

No I know but they inject a contrast which is

I’ve had 2 of these tests, with no side effects, l personally think you can over stress yourself by thinking it’s going to be bad, I take an Kindle in with me, to read, or play a game of patience on it, to distract me, and keep everything calm, you can use a Smartphone, and download the appropriate apps, to do the same thing, it really does help! You’ll be fine! x

This year re Thyroid Cancer check I had my 4th ultra-sound which caused surgeon to worry. Calcification so I went on to have CT Scan with infusion IODINE HAS RADIATION, then PET Scan with 2 infusions, first iodine RA monitors wait 90 mins then Scan with more dye. They take blood sugar - no sugar or carbs or strenuous exercise day prior or morning of PET. Infusion comes from Australia. 2 hours late as it went AUSTRALIA-WELLINGTON.fog kept plane- then W TO AK AND THEN TO WHANGAREI!.Radiation in that. I became Radio Active.

Then as PUTIARY GLAND was warm in colour an MRI of it was arranged. NO RADIATION. Uses magnetic fields. I was clear of ang magliancy there. Brain clear.

So please don't worry. They will ask you about allergies to infusions.

Drink plenty of water before and after to flush it out.
