I have not posted anything here for some time although I look every day. Maybe I have no right to ask but I'm asking for any of you who pray to pray for us here in Florida who are going to be hit by the hurricane. I'm afraid this is may be goodbye. My partner has dementia now too and we have been on our own. No help. No family and little help from the medical system. I'm too unwell to get us out of here. Thank you all for everything. I hope you prayed for those who were devastated by hurricane Helene. Lite is only a blink of an eye.

Please do try t o get out of there. Surely a neighbour or someone could fit you in their car. Meanwhile I send prayers for everyone. I had a friend in Waveland who was in the middle of Katrina with a severely disabled husband. They lost everything but lived. Miracles can happen.

I am praying for your safety! I read that there are free Uber car services for residents in Florida to take you to a safe shelter. It’s not too late to contact them for an arrangement to pick up you and your husband before the hurricane hits.

Look for a shelter near you! They will even come and get you and then sign you for a list for the next one that comes through! There are shelters for special needs to assist getting you through this event. Please take the time to look into this, sometimes you just have to ask for help.

Did you phone anyone? Local Sherrif? FEMA? Hospital? Neighbours? There surely are measures in place to move the infirm to a safer place?

Thank you all for your kind words. Yes there are shelters. The problem is John is disruptive and I don't want him to upset others who are already upset in the shelters. Plus it's mandatory to take your pets. Which I could not leave behind. It's not easy to understand how hard it would be even with help to navigate a shelter. John wanders now and that in itself is a problem. So we will hunker down at home and accept what happens. I so appreciate all your support and kind words and prayers. This forum has been not just support for those who have AFib, but support when some are also experiencing other difficulties. I came across this forum online, looking for any help when I wasn't getting the help I needed from my medical community. I truly believe that something guided me here and as I said, even though I have butted heads with some of you (my father always told my sister and I to stand for what we believed but I don't think he told us to be so harsh sometimes , but my sister is worse than me in that regard 😊😂😧) I'm happy I found this forum. I would tell my Drs how much help it was, but they thought it was a scam. Huh. What do they know anyway. 🙄 Well there are a few good Drs out there. THANK YOU all again and again. Oh, there have been tornados too all over the state so there will also be damage from them. Milton will be a storm for the history books. I'm hoping to get to tell you everything turned out okay. The lights just flickered so there will be major power outages. It's going to hit later tonight and last most of tomorrow before it leaves. Bye for now.

I think the hurricane is still going on right now and it's night time there . I quickly watched the BBC 24hr news for a short time a little while ago. I really hope they are both ok.

Hi Jean. I hope they got evacuated and are ok. I just wondered if they were awake and got the phone by them. I just read the storm has been downgraded to 1. so they are probably over the worst, but they said it has been deadly. Poor Belinder. Hope you are keeping well. We grumble about all this rain here don’t we, and there is all this horror going on in different countries. Xxx
They don't know right now how many people have died. I think the hurricane was downgraded from a 5 to a 3 before it hit. I've been watching the news and so far not many reported dead but that could change as they check on people. The area has no electric power right now. I would guess other services are disrupted too e.g. internet. So I doubt Belinda will be able to contact us for a while.
Here's hoping that they are both fine. In my heart I think they are.
