hi everyone, I have Medisana arm monitor. It shows my diastolic and systolic, my pulse, and a squiggly line appears to show when my heartbeat is irregular.
Sometimes this squiggly line is when I know I’m in Afib. But sometimes it appears when I’m feeling fine my question is when your heartbeat is irregular are you in a fib even if you feel okay? I hope this is not confusing.
thanks for any help, in advance.

Thank you. Perhaps I will buy a Kardia. I have had the ecg and been definitely diagnosed with PAF. I’m trying to understand if now and again one can be having an irregular heartbeat and it’s not the PAF and that’s why I’m not feeling awful on those occasions. Or whether irregular heartbeats = AF or PAF always. Sorry, it is a bit confusing!
Hi, you could be having ectopics - beats out of place - which can confuse monitors. Even Kardia can get it wrong if there are frequent blips. You should learn to check your own pulse so you have a double test. I could explain but it’s probably better to watch a demo on YouTube or BHF website.
My BP monitor has a different symbol but it doesn't differentiate between AF, simple ectopics or any other arrhythmia. It's simply a notification of at least one erratic beat.
Thanks Qualipop, that’s helpful - what monitor do you have? Mine is from lidl £19.99. Last time I was at the doctors it tallied accurately with his readings.
Yes, I’ve had this too. It’s what initiated my question. And I’ve had the opposite - I’ll be feeling absolutely awful so I take my b/p to find I’m not in Afib. No squiggly 😊 - my b/p will show normal and my pulse will be too high, say 120. Or vice versa, pulse 55 its usual low but b/p very high.
I only take it several times in a row if I’m feeling awful and can’t move.
