I’ve been in and out of A-Fib for the last two days. Last time my heart rate was only 60. Anyone else experienced this? Guess my ablation was unsuccessful after anesthesia depleted my B 12 which has been a nightmare.
A-Fib with low heart rate: I’ve been in... - Atrial Fibrillati...
A-Fib with low heart rate
That is my story too, except I had a very successful ablation eight years ago. It has been just recently that I’m keep going in and out of 60 bpm afib. I’m sorry that I don’t have an answer for you. Just empathy.
Maybe review your medication particularly BB if you are on them.
I now get AF just on Flecainide with relatively low HR increases, which I am relieved about.
Are you saying you take flecainide without beta blocker? What about a calcium channel blocker? I was strongly warned never to do that.
Yes, I think that is the usual advice from the medics. However..... when initially prescribed I had no comorbidities, low BP & HR under 60 and my cardiologist said a BB or CB would make me feel unwell. This worked perfectly well with supplements & other lifestyle improvements for a decade, AF free & feeling fine. During that time I questioned this advice 3 times and he maintains there is less risk now as I enter my 70's. However, I did ask for bisoprolol as a PIP just in case I do get a v rapid HR.
How do you feel when you get such AF episodes? I have Permanent though asymptomatic AF with a resting heart rate in the mid 80s.. what medication do you take?
Hi
I had AF with a very low HR then bouts of tachycardia (sustained periods of 180 BPM) proscribed Beta blockers which took my BPM as low as 28 during sleep so immediately stopped taking them and went back to the GP
I then had a very successful ablation 9 years ago and haven’t looked back, still have a resting pulse of around 55BPM But in the meantime have completed the 3 peaks challenge Climbing all 3 of the UK’s highest mountains in 24hours
And just last year at 63 I cycled Lands end to John O Groats (960 miles in 10 days)
I feel lucky but would recommend this treatment if it’s an option
I am also medication free and have been since the operation
I have been in permanent AF now for 8 years with a resting HR of 64 my medication consists of Apixiban and 2.5 Bisoporol.
60 heart rate is perfectly normal
I gather that AF can occur at any ventricular rate. I have it from 70bpm upwards. A friend is in ermine AF with a are of 70-90bpm and quite healthy with it.
Steve
Fast AF (o ver 100} is called AF with RVR - rapid ventricular rate. I suspect the people who don’t realise they have AF have it at normal rates and we now know there are a lot of them about.
Vitamin B12 deficiency can cause havoc with the bodily systems, especially the heart, causing palpitations and breathlessness. It can cause aneamia. I would think this is some of the problem you are having and it’s triggering your AF. I hope when you get this topped up your heart will stop complaining. Take care.
60bpm absolutely normal. Mine is c40/50 and consultant advises 60 is absolutely ideal rate
