Ablation 2 and Afib journey

I am now 2 months post ablation 2 . The first ablation was partly successful but after only a couple of weeks symptoms returned and got progressively worse over the course of the following year . I opted for ablation 2 in consultation with professor Gupta under private medical insurance . I am 2 months on and symptoms have completely disappeared , my heart beats a little faster ( in rhythm ) as I am now completely off all drugs . The recovery this time was totally different , I had no symptoms at all . I did have a huge bruise and felt rougher than the first time in myself but no afib at all .

I’ve learned that taking supplements , life style and looking for triggers were all really non factors for me , I had a condition that was always going to happen without this surgical intervention . I’m even drinking real coffee again . Obviously living health will benefit you in so many ways . Interestingly the specialist Gupta indicated that Ozempic was a wonder drug and highly recommended it ( I’m a tad overweight but nothing major) . He also told me that the ablated veins had regrown completely on one side and that was the reason for the occurrence , on the initial operation he carried out 80 burns but only needed less than 10 this time round .

Don’t live with it folks , have the ablations needed . The procedures are not that bad , they do this thing now where they put a stitch in the groin and that hurts - however I was offered an injection to numb it but the injection hurt a lot ! And then I think the bruising was worst as it travelled all the way down to my ankle - a horrific black blue purple mess ( but not that painful ) .

Please feel free to ask me any questions if I can help . Also coming off bisiprolol was weird as heart does beat faster and the world seems more real and a bit scarier .

I’m Afib free and the specialist is of the option it’s very unlikely to return .

Wow that's amazing. Did you have Pulse Field Ablation . It's scary to read the leaflet on all the complications with ablation and recovery time. My dad is frail and 72 so we are worried and wondering if it's worth the risk.

I really think it’s quite routine surgery these days the worst risk is bleeding after the op . I’d go for it personally .

How much bisoprolol were you on

5mg per day and 2.5 mg per episode up to 20 mg per day if it didn’t go so you’d then whack it with drugs even then it would sometimes persist until the next day .

Well written, and I'm sure is helpful to those considering the procedure! Best wishes for a quick recovery.

Hi, that’s such an encouraging post. I had my first Ablation in February this year and it hasn’t been successful so I’m probably down for a second one. Your post has given me the push to go ahead with it.
