I had an awful feeling that when I wrote an answer to the original post about this earlier I put the weight criteria in the 3 different criteria for applying a reduction in dosage of apixaban as 90kg its not it's 60 kg around 9and a half or so stones. Out of the 3 criteria one would have to meet two of the three so being over 80 and under 9.5 stone would meet two of the criteria - the other criteria is to do with creatinine levels.
Don't know whether or not I did put 90kg or 60kg but apologise if I did put the wrong weight down.

I am now 86 and my apixaban was reduced at 80/81 .I weigh approx 8.12(in old money!) and have been this weight most of my adult life. I feel fine on the lower dose.Nobody has mentioned anything to do with creatinine or potatsium althought i had a glancing problem with high potassium about 2 years ago. GP checked out any problems with hospital i.e with kidneys via a ct scan but all was well
You already met 2 out of the 3 criteria being over 80 and under 60kg and you only need to meet 2 out of the three to have the reduction in dosage applied. When I turned 80 I had a few months previously had all levels checked for some other reason.
I reduced to the lower dose a year early after a discussion with my doctor. I weigh 49kg and discovered that diltiazem increases the effect of Apixaban. When I had a recent episode of GI bleeding I was quite pleased I had. My doctor puts a note on my prescription to say ‘dose reduced after informed discussion with patient’ which covers her.
I'm on Edoxaban , I had a similar conversation with the pharmacist who was reviewing my medication. I'm not far off 60kg, just over and she said to keep a check on my weight because if I drop below 60kg I will need a lower dose. I'm 75.
I am on Edoxaban and weigh under 60 KG and am over 70. I should have been prescribed 30 mg, not the higher dose I was prescribed, when first put on it. I had to tell the GP that I should be on 30mg and he agreed and I’ve been on 30 mg ever since. I have to keep my weight under 60kg though, as I don’t want to go on the higher dose.
My Consultant said it was best to stay on the 5mg as long as possible to get the maximum protection. I weigh 50 kg (like I have been most of my life) am now over 80 but still on 5mg Apixaban twice a day. My GP is monitoring my kidney function every 6 months now though. She agreed with me that it was a bit bizarre to change just because I had a birthday and said as long as my body was coping ok.
You can check all of your Posts and Replies in your Bio, so you can easily check whether you made the potentially damaging mistake you mentioned. That doesn't seem a lot of trouble, and is definitely worth doing.🤔
So you are not referring to today's Post (which still exists), but a previous one Posted by another Member? But wouldn't the Replies still "live on" in a Replier's Bio and still be available to check. I'm not sure what the answer is there. Do you know?
Anyway perhaps I did misunderstand? 🤔 If so, thanks for your heads-up.
When Desanthony wrote today that a previous "answer" of his was a potential problem, I assumed that was a previous "Reply" of his.
No worries, soon I will be confusing others too by inventing Replies that no longer exist and cannot be questioned, but still entertaining doubts about their dangerous content. Doh! I am getting too old for this.🤕
