Hi

Has anybody else experienced Flecainide tablets disolving in mouth almost instantly, leaving a bad taste and heat in throat , before swallowing with drink. It seems to be worse with tablets from Brown and Burke. I did complain to yellow card and they needed endless info instead of visiting the factory un announced to check on quality control.

Instantly? The only time I have ever had tablets start to disolve in my mouth is when I forgot to fill the glass with water first or for sme reason my swallow instinct left me for a moment or two.

I have the same issue , tablets start to dissolve before you can take a mouthful of water . Not pleasant x

I don't find it a problem I'm hopeless at swallowing pills anyway but suggest you put tablet in spoonful of yoghurt.

This is what we were told to do with my Mum as she had problems swallowing quickly as she had Parkinson's so quite often the water would be swallowed but the tablet would be left or she would swallow neither and the water would dribble out of her mouth. Using the spoonful of yogurt worked every time.

My wife would love that! I often ask her does she want some bread with her butter!

I took Flecainide for many years and never had a problem with them dissolving in my mouth. Pick up glass of water put tablet in mouth, drink and then swallow. Are you placing your tablet in your mouth before having a drink ready?

Mind you I always used to insist on having the Actavis brand.

I have found it to happen very recently. Not had the issue before so I wonder if the make up of the med has been changed. They now dissolve often before I can lift my drink. I have taken this med for years without this happening. Very odd.

I agree with you Mead foot , this is a recent development. Have been capable of swallowing tablets for years without having to resort to tricks !

As a follow up , I assumed the pharmacist had replaced the usual brand with a cheaper one . As long as it performs its required job I don’t mind who makes it !! The current brand is made by Tillomeds in Luton . Would prefer it not to dissolve quite so quickly though !!

Hi all,

Interesting as I also sometimes get Tillomed which seem OK. Have been taking these and other tablets for years no problems , please check if your problems are with Brown and Burke. Possibly something in the drying process or not finnished with a coating. They do taste bad when it happens.

On the odd occasions when I needed to take Flecainide dry, for example having no water on a train journey, Flecainide didn't dissolve but tasted awful and numbed my mouth.

I wonder what brand you have? Mine doesn't dissolve and is made by Tillomed Laboratories.

Flec is a fierce medicine I wouldn't want it in my mouth, maybe ask your pharmacist about it ..?
