Hello,
Is there anyone who can tell how often ECG (electrocardiogram), lung, liver and thyroid tests are done during long-term amiodoran intake?
Hello,
Is there anyone who can tell how often ECG (electrocardiogram), lung, liver and thyroid tests are done during long-term amiodoran intake?
I am on long term Amidarone and have 6 monthly blood tests to check thyroid liver etc and see consultant yearly
If you are taking Amiodarone six monthy liver and thyroid tests are advisable as well as regular eye testing.
6 monthly bloods, indluding thyroid, echocardiogram yearly nothing for lungs unless a dry cough develops, as far as I know. That is what my husband gets + pacemaker monitoring, never had eye tests but do that privately anyway.
I book my tests approximately every three months.
I had regular bloods up to my valve surgery came off Amioradone. 8 weeks after surgery my Thyroid function was off the scale high caused by the amioradone. So you need to have checks constantly after coming off as well.
Took nearly 2 years to get the Thyroid back to normal
The UK National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) gives the following guidelines on amiodarone. This includes monitoring information ...
I was on amioderone for 6yrs.. 3monthly blood tests, yearly eco, and bi yearly chest xray. I had my usual 2yearly eye tests.
